Knock Your Socks Off Cranberry Sauce

Updated: Dec 8, 2020

1 cup (200 g) sugar

1 cup (250 ml) water

4 cups (12 oz package) fresh or frozen cranberries

Optional: Pecans, orange zest, raisins, currants, blueberries, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice.

Rinse and drain cranberries. Remove the bruised or damaged ones. Bring the water and sugar to a boil. Turn the heat down to middle and stir until the sugar dissolves approximately 3 minutes. Add the cranberries to the pot and return to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer or 10 minutes or until most of the cranberries have burst. Stir in any of the optional items. Transfer to a bowl and allow the items to cool at room temperature. The sauce will thicken as it cools. Store in the refrigerator.
